Research shows that the majority of classic vehicle owners are living the dream and driving their dream classic. According to a survey by specialist insurance broker Footman James, the top three classics owned by those surveyed are the Morris Minor, MGB and Mini – exactly the same as the top three dream cars that enthusiasts would purchase if they won up to £5000. The survey also revealed that if enthusiasts were lucky enough to win £10,000, their top three dream classics would be a Triumph TR, Triumph Stag or Jaguar E Type. The survey of nearly 5500 classic vehicle owners was conducted via a database web survey and also at the NEC’s Classic Motor Show. Garry Carlin, Footman James’ sales director, said: ‘Despite the tough economic climate, it is great to hear that classic enthusiasts are able to own and drive their dream classic. It is also interesting to note that classic owners are clearly extremely loyal, as the aspirations of those surveyed has hardly changed over the past 12 months. The MGB and the Mini have both maintained their position in the top three dream classics in the under £5000 category, and the Triumph TR and Stag have held their places in the top three dream classics in the under £10,000 category.’ |
