The new owner of Greenwood Exhibitions, Stephen Smith, has vowed to make changes to the annual Knebworth Show to attract additional club support and grow trade support. After a slower than normal start on Sunday at this year’s event starting on the August bank holiday with heavy showers forecast, exhibitor numbers swelled to over 1000 cars on Monday with the hotly contested concours judging taking place as usual.
‘We have a great reputation with classic car owners who enjoy a well-run show in classic surroundings, and we always get some very special cars attending,’ said Smith. ‘I want to build on that reputation. I will be introducing a new Knebworth Cup next year, with new quality awards to match. In addition, all private enthusiasts who support our shows in 2012 will be entered in a draw to take part in next year’s London to Brighton Classic Car Run on 10 June, 2012’
Smith also promised bigger and more cost effective pitches for autojumblers and traders alike as he starts to plan a steady and considered plan of expansion.
