Every point matters in sport, but some matter more than others! That was certainly the case for James Walpole, competing in the MGCC’s Peter Best Insurance Challenge in his MGB, one of several supported by the MGB Hive with help, advice and discounted parts.

‘The final two rounds of the 2011 season were at my local circuit of Snetterton,’ explained Walpole, ‘and I went there with a lead of just one point over James Darby. I gained an extra point for getting pole on the Saturday, but ended up four seconds behind him at the finish. On the Sunday, he was initially given class pole and the point that goes with it, but careful examination of the rules showed that this was a mistake; it was rectified, so I got the pole and the point.’
And how vital that was – at close of play, Walpole was awarded the title (his seventh successive MGCC Class A title) by a single point.
